Grammy-winning producer Timbaland has announced plans to put out a new album next summer and said fans can expect to finally hear elusive rapper Missy Elliott make a comeback.
If all goes accordingly, Timbo envisions both of their albums dropping at the same time.
"Me and Missy are both coming with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June," Timbo told MTV News in his Miami home February 3. It's been three years since Timbaland released Shock Value II and seven years since Missy dropped The Cookbook. If all goes according to plan, fans won't have to wait much longer. "Right now, we're preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time," Tim said. "We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously." (MTV)
In April, rapper Da Brat hinted at Missy possibly nearing the end of her solo career.
"I was hoping for a 'Ladies Night' reunion. I spoke to Missy and she down for it. She want to do a song because she said this could possibly be her last album," Da Brat said. "I'm definitely coming back out ASAP." (Sister 2 Sister Magazine)
Last year, Missy and hitmaker Timbaland put out a record called "Take Ur Clothes Off."
Timbaland debuts his new weekly series Timbaland Thursdays with none other than his frequent collaborator Missy Elliott. The best buddies are up to their zany tricks on the club-friendly "Take Ur Clothes Off," powered by Timbo's leftfield synthesizers and snapping instrumentation. Missy holds it down on the lyrical tip, dropping smirk-worthy rhymes to lighten up the track. "Been hot before Michael Jackson wore loafers/ Been rich before you even knew about Oprah," she quips. Reunited and it feels so good. (Rap-Up)

LOS ANGELES - Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.
News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony. Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.
At her peak, Houston the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.
Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale."
She had the he perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.
She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.
But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.
"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.
It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.
She seemed to be born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.
Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.
"The time that I first saw her singing in her mother's act in a club ... it was such a stunning impact," Davis told "Good Morning America."
"To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine," he added.
Before long, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with "Whitney Houston," which sold millions and spawned hit after hit. "Saving All My Love for You" brought her her first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. "How Will I Know," "You Give Good Love" and "The Greatest Love of All" also became hit singles.
Another multiplatinum album, "Whitney," came out in 1987 and included hits like "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."
The New York Times wrote that Houston "possesses one of her generation's most powerful gospel-trained voices, but she eschews many of the churchier mannerisms of her forerunners. She uses ornamental gospel phrasing only sparingly, and instead of projecting an earthy, tearful vulnerability, communicates cool self-assurance and strength, building pop ballads to majestic, sustained peaks of intensity."
Her decision not to follow the more soulful inflections of singers like Franklin drew criticism by some who saw her as playing down her black roots to go pop and reach white audiences. The criticism would become a constant refrain through much of her career. She was even booed during the "Soul Train Awards" in 1989.
"Sometimes it gets down to that, you know?" she told Katie Couric in 1996. "You're not black enough for them. I don't know. You're not R&B enough. You're very pop. The white audience has taken you away from them."
Some saw her 1992 marriage to former New Edition member and soul crooner Bobby Brown as an attempt to refute those critics. It seemed to be an odd union; she was seen as pop's pure princess while he had a bad-boy image, and already had children of his own. (The couple had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in 1993.) Over the years, he would be arrested several times, on charges ranging from DUI to failure to pay child support.
But Houston said their true personalities were not as far apart as people may have believed.
"When you love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place," she told Rolling Stone in 1993. "You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that's their image. It's part of them, it's not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody's angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy."
It would take several years, however, for the public to see that side of Houston. Her moving 1991 rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, amid the first Gulf War, set a new standard and once again reaffirmed her as America's sweetheart.
In 1992, she became a star in the acting world with "The Bodyguard." Despite mixed reviews, the story of a singer (Houston) guarded by a former Secret Service agent (Kevin Costner) was an international success.
It also gave her perhaps her most memorable hit: a searing, stunning rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," which sat atop the charts for weeks. It was Grammy's record of the year and best female pop vocal, and the "Bodyguard" soundtrack was named album of the year.
She returned to the big screen in 1995-96 with "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife." Both spawned soundtrack albums, and another hit studio album, "My Love Is Your Love," in 1998, brought her a Grammy for best female R&B vocal for the cut "It's Not Right But It's Okay."
But during these career and personal highs, Houston was using drugs. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2010, she said by the time "The Preacher's Wife" was released, "(doing drugs) was an everyday thing. ... I would do my work, but after I did my work, for a whole year or two, it was every day. ... I wasn't happy by that point in time. I was losing myself."
In the interview, Houston blamed her rocky marriage to Brown, which included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993. They divorced in 2007.
Houston would go to rehab twice before she would declare herself drug-free to Winfrey in 2010. But in the interim, there were missed concert dates, a stop at an airport due to drugs, and public meltdowns.
She was so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumors spread she had died the next day. Her crude behavior and jittery appearance on Brown's reality show, "Being Bobby Brown," was an example of her sad decline. Her Sawyer interview, where she declared "crack is whack," was often parodied. She dropped out of the spotlight for a few years.
Houston staged what seemed to be a successful comeback with the 2009 album "I Look To You." The album debuted on the top of the charts, and would eventually go platinum.
Things soon fell apart. A concert to promote the album on "Good Morning America" went awry as Houston's voice sounded ragged and off-key. She blamed an interview with Winfrey for straining her voice.
A world tour launched overseas, however, only confirmed suspicions that Houston had lost her treasured gift, as she failed to hit notes and left many fans unimpressed; some walked out. Canceled concert dates raised speculation that she may have been abusing drugs, but she denied those claims and said she was in great shape, blaming illness for cancellations.
Young Money star Nicki Minaj recenty opened up on her seemingly overnight spark from local emcee to global sensation and why she needs to kick back and enjoy the moment.
In Nicki's eyes, she has been in overdrive but also realizes the entertainment industry is a demanding business.
"Ugh! I have been working sooo much. Success came and now that somany eyes are on me, I feel I have to deliver. And it's a business. No joke. I guess I am stressing more than I should be, and I think I am becoming more guarded." (Paper Mag)
Last year, Minaj talked about her pre-fame days and nearly ending it all.
"I kept having doors slammed on my face," Minaj recalled of her pre-fame days. "I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I'd have to go home. It was one dead end after another. At one point, I was, like, 'What would happen if I just didn't wake up?' That's how I felt. Like maybe I should just take my life?" (Cosmopolitan)
Back in 2010, hip-hop veteran MC Lyte discussed Minaj's genre-trascending abilities.
"Those who really need to be worried by Nicki's record is Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado," Lyte said in an interview. "Nicki is coming out to win. She's not thinking of the block. She's not just thinking of the city. So she's able to handle so many areas of what it takes right now to be an international star. So hats off to everybody that's doing it but, I see the vision that Nicki sees for herself that people probably didn't see before." (VH1)
Up for multiple Grammy awards this Sunday, the platinum-selling rapper recently said she is just proud of the acknowledgement.
Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy is making headlines for a reported hospitalization today (February 13) after experiencing a "massive" headache following his post-Grammy Awards party Sunday night.
Details on the hospitalization emerged online Monday afternoon.

Rap mogul Jay-Z and wife Beyonce Knowles-Carter started Valentine's Day a bit early this year with reports claiming the new parents missed out on the 54th Annual Grammy Awards for a New York date.
According to reports, Young Hov and Bey enjoyed some pizza slices from a local Brooklyn restaurant.
Where were Beyonce and Jay-Z on Grammys Sunday? On a pizza date in Brooklyn! Although Jay-Z was nominated at Sunday's 54th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, he and wife Beyonce sat out the proceedings attended by peers like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Adele and others. Instead, Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 42, took a Maybach from their home in downtown Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood to the cute Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn -- where they tucked into pizza at their favorite posh pizzeria Lucali. (Us Magazine)
A witness offered up some details on the married couple's date.
Leaving one-month-old daughter Blue Ivy at home, the music super couple "were just like a regular couple talking and whatnot," a witness tells Us Weekly, adding that other patrons failed to notice them. "They were sitting in front of the place closer to where they make the pizza." (Us Magazine)
Despite their no-show, Jay won a Grammy award at last night's televised ceremony.
And in a similarly dominant run, Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Otis," won Best Rap Performance in the first hip-hop award of the broadcast -- the fourth award of the day for West, who was a no-show at the ceremony, despite leading the nominations with seven. During the pre-show, he picked up Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "All of the Lights" and Best Rap Album for that track's source, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy." (Billboard)
A couple nights prior, Jay and Bey released photos of their newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
R&B singer Christina Milian can keep quiet no longer and has embraced fans asking if she is truly signed to Young Money after an unofficial announcement by Lil Wayne this past weekend.
Re-tweeting a few followers' Young Money-related questions, Milian eventually vowed her YM status.

Weezy announced Milian's Young Money affiliation during a pre-Grammy Awards party Saturday night.
In a bit of a surprised move, Christina Milian has officially signed to Young Money. No, seriously... Last night at Cash Money's Pre-Grammy party, Lil Wayne made a special announcement. Before receiving his plaque and taking a shot at Jay-Z and Kanye West, the Young Money general announced Christina Millian had in fact signed with the label. "I got the beautiful Ms. Christina Milian with me tonight... Ya'll make some noise for Ms. Christina Milian. Young Money Christina Milian!" Interesting to see how this plays out for both parties. A Brooklyn rapper, most known for his affiliation with rappers like Uncle Murda, has reportedly felt the wrath of his own doing by getting slapped with three murder charges after tweeting about beating the judicial system.
According to reports, Ronald "Ra Diggs" Herron faces steep consequences for his Twitter remarks in relation to one particular murder.
A wannabe Brooklyn rapper who bragged on Twitter about getting away with murder might have tweeted too soon, authorities say. Federal prosecutors have charged Ronald (Ra Diggs) Herron with three brutal slayings -- including one connected to his online boasts. A Brooklyn Federal Court grand jury indicted him on Monday for the murders, which prosecutors say are connected to his drug enterprise in the Gowanus Houses. Herron later boasted on the Internet that he "beat a body" referring to Brooks, authorities said. "His Tweets were premature," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Monday. NYPD detectives worked with federal authorities on the case. (New York Daily News)
Along with the charges, Diggs has also been described as a threat to society.
Today prosecutors hit him with an expanded indictment that includes several murder, murder conspiracy, and attempted murder charges related to his alleged drug business, and Herron possibly could face the death penalty, if convicted. He was already facing cocaine and heroin-trafficking charges - as well as weapons offenses - that stemmed from his 2010 arrest. The feds say he's carried sub-machine guns, strapped on bulletproof vests, and authorities believe he's responsible for ordering murders and intimidating witnesses that doomed one homicide prosecution in New York state court. (New York Post)
His alleged slayings reportedly date back ten years to a case he eventually won.
R&B star Brandy is refusing to reveal details of what Whitney Houston wrote in a note she handed the singer during a TV interview on Thursday -- two days before her death.
RELATED: Bobby Brown 'Devastated' by Whitney Houston's Death
The E! News chat Brandy conducted with Monica and Houston's friend and mentor Clive Davis has become a talking point since the tragedy, because Houston interrupted the interview and appeared to shock her young friend with the contents of a note that she handed to her.
In the footage, Brandy suddenly fell silent and shifted awkwardly in her chair after her brother Ray J's reported girlfriend handed her the note, which she handed off to an assistant.
But in a new E! News segment, which aired on Tuesday, the singer insists she'll never reveal what her friend and idol wrote.
She says, "I'm going to just not say what it was and just keep it to myself for my own personal reasons."
Still raw and emotional after Saturday's tragedy, Brandy fought back tears for the new interview with Monica, stating, "It's just so unfortunate. Whitney meant everything to me -- everything. She's the reason that I sing. It's crazy, so crazy."
Young Money boss Lil Wayne may have a heart filled with love but there is no engagement ring around his finger as he has stepped forward to clear the air on fiancee gossip.
Weezy took to his Twitter page to clear up confusion surrounding a speculated engagement tweet.
"Ohhhhhhh now I see why! I meant "she said yes" to being my valentine!!! Hahahahahahaha! Y'all krazy!," he tweeted Wednesday (February 15). (Lil Wayne's Twitter)
In the wee hours of Wednesday, Wayne sent the Internet into a fury after making an open-ended tweet.
Lil Wayne had two reasons to celebrate on Valentine's Day - he reportedly proposed to his girlfriend, who is also expecting a baby. The Lollipop hitmaker popped the question to cocktail waitress Dhea on Tuesday and he appears to have hinted at the happy news in a Twitter.com message. The post on Wednesday reads, "She said yes!" A representative for the star has yet to comment on the reports but sources tell MediaTakeOut.com Dhea is also pregnant. (Toronto Sun)

The Roots' Questlove has cleared up reports based on an interview where he announced plans to put together an abstruse project alongside rap mogul Jay-Z, claiming the footage is outdated.
According to the much-heralded drummer, the "secret project" was in relation to Jay's recent Carnegie Hall concert.
"RT: THERE IS NO JAY Z PROJECT. That "Project" is from an OLD INTERVIEW. I was speaking of Carnegie Hall Show. Its the 4th time I've said this but I'm getting more & more blog links saying the opposite lol. RT this please!" (Questlove's Twitter)
Despite the footage being outdated, Hollywood TV released its Questlove interview on Valentine's Day.
"He and I are actually working on a secret project," Quest revealed in an interview. "So I was kind of taking a break from working with him and he was like, 'Come by the [40/40 Club] opening,' so we're doing something real big in the next few weeks." (Hollywood TV)
Earlier this month, Questlove backed up Jay on percussion at his Carnegie Hall concert.
Nas joined Jay-Z and Alicia Keys on stage earlier in the night, performing both of their NYC anthems: "Empire State of Mind" and "N.Y. State of Mind." Jay stepped off stage as Nas and Alicia Keys performed his Billboard 100 hit, "If I Ruled the World." Backed by a full orchestra, singers Bilal and Bridget Kelly, and The Roots' Questlove on the drums, Jay-Z managed to maintain all of Carnegie Hall on their feet for all of the approximately 2 hr. performance with diamonds in the air. Music couple Jay-Z and Beyonce's newborn daughter has made its way to the small screen courtesy of a "Saturday Night Live" skit with a parodied version of select celebrities.
In the parody, spoofed versions of music veteran Prince and rap star Nicki Minaj all made appearances.
You know you've arrived when you get your own "Saturday Night Live" skit. Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy Carter was at the center of a parody starring Maya Rudolph (Beyoncé) and Jay Pharoah (Jay-Z). The famous couple were visited by some familiar faces including Prince, LL Cool J, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, and Bon Iver, played by Justin Timberlake. Even Nicki Minaj (Nasim Pedrad) stopped by to sing a lullaby inspired by her Grammy performance. But it didn't go over too well with Blue's folks. "Nicki please, you're scaring him," said Beyoncé. "Him? I thought Blue was a girl," responded Nicki. "No, I meant Prince," said B. (Rap-Up)
Last month, comedian Rob Ryan spoofed Jay's "Glory" Blue Ivy Carter tribute by making his own "Lenox Hill Glory" record.
"The most amazing feeling I feel, is closing down floor 6 at Lenox Hill," Ryan raps, "Baby I blocked the ICU, it's a pretty jerk move it's true... true... Sorry/Locked doors and blocked wards/Reinformced by my security guards/Didn't want people seeing/I made sure there was not a human being/This day belongs to Hova/So all babies go move on ova/Hurry. Scurry. Scurry. Sorry.../Everything that I paid for..., my own suite, I wish I would have paid more/God makes no mistakes, I made a few/Like not buying the whole Godd*mn ICU" ("Lenox Hill Glory")
R&B singer Bobby Brown has come forward to clear the air on drawing concerns over his early departure from his late ex-wife Whitney Houston's publicized funeral Saturday (February 18) afternoon.
Speaking via a statement, Brown said extreme security measures forced his exit.
"My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions," he stated. "I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how." (Statement)
Reports of Brown's early departure hit the Internet Saturday.
Brown was seen arriving with several people and had sat down in the front row of a section marked off for family, before being asked to move. Brown had entered the church with other mourners, separate from Houston's family. He appeared emotionally distraught, with red eyes and head hanging as he walked up the aisle of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. He approached Houston's casket, passed it and went back down the aisle. Ultimately, he left the church. (CNN)
Despite what took place at the funeral, the music veteran performed in his ex-wife's honor hours later.
A grieving Bobby Brown began to fulfill his promise to "continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," and returned to the stage with the New Edition at the Mohegan Sun last night just hours after making a cameo appearance at Whitney Houston's funeral. The Roxbury R&B singer, who explained earlier that he left Houston's star-studded "home going" in New Jersey when his entourage was dissed by security inside the New Hope Baptist Church, joined the New Edition 10 minutes into their set dressed in a white and black ensemble with a black fedora. R&B singer Chris Brown has decided to lash back at country star Miranda Lambert in light of her firing shots toward him during a live performance, blasting him for his 2009 domestic violence case with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Rather than air out Lambert, Breezy sarcastically promoted her music.
"Using my name to get publicity? I love it! Perform your heart out!," he tweeted February 18th.
"Go buy @miranda_lambert album! So motivational and "PERFECT"!"
"Goodnight to all the people who live life and who aren't stuck in the past! TEAM BREEZY is my family! Positivity and blessings!" (Chris Brown's Twitter)
Last Thursday (February 16), Lambert went off on an anti-Brown tirade during her University of Massachusetts concert.
Before singing "Gunpowder and Lead," about a woman preparing to kill her abusive husband, Miranda pulled out a poster with handwritten letters saying, "Take Notes Chris Brown" Them would seem to be fightin' words. Lambert instructed the crowd, holding her artwork high. "I've been in a world of hurt with Chris Brown fans lately...but see, I just have to speak my mind because where I come from, beating up on a woman is never OK." Lambert then cracked, "So that's why my daddy taught me early on in life how to use a shotgun." Wow, we wonder how she feels about Brown getting back in the studio with Rihanna. Actually, never mind, we don't wonder. We know. (E! Online)

R&B singer Teairra Mari has lashed out at rapper Yung Berg over past comments he made about her personal affairs and denied ever being attracted him.
Talking to hip-hop personality Young Jack Thriller, Mari addressed her issues with Berg.
"You know what? I'll get his a** jumped again," Mari said in an interview when jokingly targeted as the person responsible for Yung Berg's past robberies. "I don't like Yung Berg. I'm sorry. [Why?] Because I did an interview with [New York radio station Power 105.1's] 'The Breakfast Club' and they told me, like, all this stuff Yung Berg was saying about me, like, putting my business out, saying -- who I dated and who I was in a serious relationship with and I just feel like he violated my privacy. And if he ever goes back to Detroit, they will jump him again. ... I've never even looked at him as an attractive person. I don't even like light skinned guys." (This Is 50)
Mari previously appeared on "The Breakfast Club" and hinted at her dislike of him.

After discussing business politics, The Breakfast Club brought up an interview with Yung Berg where he claimed she had given him her number." Yung Berg is always too high off ecstasy and coke or whatever, he don't know s**t bout me," said Mari before realizing she might have but just didn't call. (Black Celebrity Gossip)
After weeks of speculation and reports, Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy has finally officially announced plans to launch his own music video network, Revolt, later this year.
Speaking in a self-recorded video clip, Puffy officially made his television takeover public.
"The revolution will be televised. Today is a very, very big day. I am here to announce my new cable network, Revolt. I'd first like to say thank-you to Comcast, the Comcast Diversity Council and NBC for recognizing the importance of minority ownership in cable television," Diddy said in a video. "When I was growing up, I used to watch television all the time and wonder, 'Why don't those people look like me?' ... So thank-you to Comcast, my hat goes off to you for being the first to step up and I would also like to encourage and invite Time Warner, DirectTV, Cable Vision and all the other distributors to come and get down with the get down because Revolt TV is bringing that revolution that television needs." (P Twitty TV)
Earlier this month, Puff said despite speculation, he could not officially confirm the Revolt TV talk.
